Bev Town secured the first league win of the season, and thoroughly deserved it was too. Against a very good Golcar United side who were riding high in the league in 4th place, with 4 wins in their first 5 games.
In front of a fantastic crowd of 301 down at Norwood on what was an unusually chilly September evening, The Beavers showed real determination and resilience to hold their nerve and secure all 3 points.
Alex Knaggs got us in front for the first time when he slotted home after 25 minutes. And that's how it stayed until the break, with the lads going in confidently at half time 1-0 up.
The crowd's nerves might have started to jangle a little bit when Golcar equalised after 60 minutes, thinking that it might not be our night again. But the lads didn't let the equaliser affect them, showing bucket loads of spirit and skill to get back in front through McCauley Snelgrove after 77 minutes.
Golcar threw everything at us in the final minutes, with a succession of attacks and corners, but the team held firm and there was jubilation at the final whistle with a job extremely well done.
Onwards and upwards for The Beavers now!
