NCEL Premier League here we come!

The biggest game in the club's history became the most memorable afternoon of football in the club's history. It was a very tense 90 minutes, and even more nervy penalty shoot out, but Bev Town prevailed beating Shirebrook Town 4-2 on penalties to secure our 2nd promotion in 3 seasons, up to the NCEL Premier League.

In front of an absolutely incredible crowd of over 1,500, the scene was set for a dramatic and emotional afternoon. And so it turned out. An early-ish goal after 26 minutes from the prolific Ben Hinchliffe was just what everyone needed to calm the nerves a tad. And that's how it stayed in a fairly even contest up to half time.

Everyone in the ground was hoping for a 2nd goal early in the 2nd half, to make it more comfortable, but unfortunately it wasn't to be and things became very tense when Shirebrook equalised in the 60th minute with a bit of a soft goal for Bev Town to concede.

We couldn't find the winner in the remaining half an hour and so it went to the nail biting lottery of penalties.

It was our lads that held their nerve, scoring all of their penalties taken by Grant Tait, Matty Plummer, James Piercy and Scott Phillips. Meanwhile Shirebrook hit the post with their first and skied their 4th which meant The Beavers secured a fantastic win 4-2. The emotional scenes from players and fans at the final whistle was a joy to behold.
